▻ REGISTRATION

Online registration is open through Thursday, February 9th, or you may register in person during packet pickup. Race day registration will be available; however runners will not receive a chip, won’t be eligible for awards, and your results will not be posted.

PACKET PICK UP

The BAACC

DATE AND TIME:  Saturday February 11th 2023 7 AM - 8 AM

All runners are encouraged to pick up their number prior to race day. Participants who are unable to pick up their race numbers may send a third party to pick it up for them. They will need to provide the third party with their confirmation and a copy of the participant's photo ID.

START LOCATION & START TIME

The Heritage Race 5K starts at 8:10 AM. The Heritage Walk will start at 8:15 AM. Both events start in front of The BAACC located at 1621 Albany Street. Transportation will be provided back to the 5K and walk starting lines after the race.

RACE BIBS 

Race number bibs must be always worn on the outermost layer of clothing on the racecourse. Removing or damaging a bib may result in the tag becoming inoperable and the participant may not appear in the results.

T-SHIRT PICK-UP

Participants will receive a wicking, technical fabric t-shirt while supplies last. Register early to guarantee a shirt in your size.  T-shirts will be distributed after the event.

 AWARDS

Awards will be given to the top 3 Overall. 10-year age groups. There will be no duplication of awards except in the case of team awards. Awards will be based on net time. Decisions by the race director are final. 

NOTE: Awards must be claimed at the awards ceremony on race day. If you have won an award, or think you might have, and cannot stay for the awards ceremony please ask someone to pick up your award.

 

OFFICIAL TIMES
  • Overall finisher's times are based on gun time.
  • Net time is used to determine the finish order for age-group award winners.
  • Official finisher times are the net times recorded by the electronic timing system. 
  • Results are unofficial until 14 days following the event.

COURSE

Participants must follow the directions of course monitors and on-course signage and always stay within the course boundaries as designated by a fence, traffic cones, or other markings.

 
COURSE TIME LIMITS

Course limits are set based on permits obtained by The Heritage Race from the jurisdictions in which its events are held. The course time limit clock begins once the last runner crosses the starting line. Once the course limit expires, the roads are no longer closed to traffic, and race services cannot be guaranteed. Participants will be asked to move onto the sidewalk or offered transportation back to the start/finish area if applicable.

 PROHIBITED ITEMS

The following items are prohibited from the Heritage Race.

  • Glass containers
  • Pets
  • Containers holding more than one liter of liquid
  • Backpacks
  • Camelbacks (fuel belts and handheld water bottles are allowed)
  • Rolling bags and other luggage
  • Masks and costumes that are not form-fitting
  • Weight vests
  • Military equipment
  • Firefighter equipment
  • Drones
     
PETS

For the safety of our participants, pets are not permitted at the Heritage Race.

 

WHEELED CONVEYANCES

Wheeled conveyances of any kind (including but not limited to strollers, bicycles, and roller skates) are prohibited from the Heritage Race 5k race to ensure the safety of all participants unless otherwise noted.

Exceptions to this policy are the Heritage Walk where opportunities for participants pushing strollers are available.

 
WEATHER CANCELLATIONS & DELAYS
THE HERITAGE RACE IS HELD RAIN OR SHINE.
  • The occurrence of lightning or other severe weather in the vicinity of the event may result in a delay or cancellation.
  • Decisions concerning the cancellation or delay of an event no later than two hours before the scheduled start.
 
EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM

The Heritage Race Event Alert System (EAS) will be used to communicate the condition of the racecourse and other event-related locations to participants, volunteers, and staff. Colored signage will be located at the start line, along the course, and in the finish, area indicating the levels which range from Low (Green) to Moderate (Yellow) to High (Red) to Event Cancelled (Black). The colored signs will also include short messages. Pre-race, all event staff, volunteers, and participants should familiarize themselves with the anticipated event conditions, safety procedures, and the Event Alert System. Alert updates will be communicated via email and social media. On race day, everyone should stay tuned to PA announcements and the sign warning system at the start, finish, and water stations along the course for the most accurate, up-to-date event conditions.

 

PERSONAL HYDRATION

Water and Powerade are available to participants before, during, and after the event with the number of fluid stations determined by the length of the race. Personal hydration systems (Camelbak, Thor, etc.) or any device that conceals the liquid or is worn as a backpack are not permitted. AGE LIMITS

Age limits are based on the best practice recommendations of USA Track & Field, the sanctioning body of running and field events in the United States.

GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION

The Heritage Race reserves the right to disqualify participants and remove them from the results for failure to follow any of the previously listed policies as well as for the following reasons:

✔ Using someone else's race number. 
✔ Missed checkpoints.

 

STATEMENT ON COVID-19 

Based on the guidelines released by the CDC, The Heritage Race has adopted specific policies to ensure the safety of all participants, volunteers, and staff at this event. The Heritage Race reserves the right to ask anyone in attendance to leave the venue should they not comply.

 
REFUND POLICY

In the event the race should be canceled for reasons beyond our control, refunds will not be made, but race packets, including race shirts, will be available at a location to be determined.
